Yaretsu Aarke, also known as Fáfnir, is a character in Tyranny of Dragons and Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaigns.
Overview
Yaretsu is a formerly-retired-now-active adventurer, a powerful mage, and the proprietor of the "Under Golden Wing" tavern, located past the north gate of Waterdeep. Having made a magical pact, they have been involved in fighting the Cult of the Dragon and slaying of Tiamat during her escape from Avernus. After Thanathur Goldthorn's passing and losing their powers from a fulfilled pact, they have been managing the tavern left behind by him, giving the draconic cult escapees a place to call home and a semblance of normal life.
During the two years of downtime, Yaretsu has been informed of the state of the Dragonborn nation of Tymanther and his former patron's genocide against their people, and has briefly visited a temple of Asgorath in the Anauroch desert. Contact with the vestige of the draconic overgod has let them find purpose to their existence, and thus Yaretsu has decided to commit apotheosis in order to be able take care of their brethren and be able to take on Gilgeam, the god king of Unther.
With a good opportunity presenting itself, they have dived into the dungeon beneath Waterdeep with a new party, developing their own magic abilities and looking for a method of ascending to a demi-godhood.
Appearance
Yaretsu is a Faerûnian Half-Dragon of the Brass subspecies. He takes a notable feature after his draconic parent, unlike his brethren: a pair of large wings that allows them to fly. Their scales are made of brass with some bronze dotted along different parts of their body. Among other unusual features are their body hair, as well as nipples, which have been passed on to him through his father's Polymorph spell. Their right hand notably has been darkened and is covered in black chromatic scales as a result of soul devouring conducted by Rezmir Orogoth.
Their physique can be best described as "large". Standing at 145 cm tall, and 280 kg of weight, they are both muscular and big-bellied.
Yaretsu possesses numerous piercings on their ears and a golden nose ring. Their hair is swept back, with eyebrows covering the brow ridges and a full beard covering their chin. There are several smaller spikes growing out of the beard.
The outfit of choice for them is an old tank top, a pair of dark cargo pants and steel-toed boots, which they have worn as their work outfit while working as a carpenter. By Yaretsu's belt hangs a holder for their Book of Shadows, on their left bicep is a black cloth wrapping formerly used as a holder for nails, and on the left wrist they have wrapped an opal pendant - the holy symbol of their god Asgorath.
Yaretsu can sometimes change appearance with shapeshifting abilities, most often morphing their wings into a second pair of arms, or turning themself into a T-rex for combat purposes.

While having access to their patron's vault of weapons, Yaretsu has found a weapon that resonated with their Art in a manner akin to a birthright. Yaretsu has notably used this weapon in the fight against Tiamat herself, cutting off three of her heads in one strike and earning them the title of "the Blade of Disaster".
